Follow the specific instructions your treating clinician gives you. Skinology’s general aftercare guidance includes the following:

Do not wash your face for at least six hours unless your clinician directs otherwise. Avoid makeup, touching or rubbing your skin, direct sun, gym sessions, saunas and heavy sweating. When permitted, use cool or lukewarm water.

Use a gentle, non-foaming cleanser and bland moisturizer as advised. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50 each morning and reapply as needed. Pause retinoids, AHAs, BHAs and vitamin C for approximately 7 to 10 days or until cleared by your clinician.

Never pull or pick peeling skin. Avoid laser, IPL, exfoliating treatments, waxing and threading for approximately two weeks. Avoid swimming and steam rooms until peeling has finished and your clinician confirms it is safe.

Your skin may feel tight, dry or mildly red for 1 to 3 days. Peeling can begin on days 2 to 4 and last up to 7 days. Stronger peels may take longer. Contact Skinology if your reaction seems unusual.
